THE DANCE Believe it or not, this is the first photo ever taken of the space shuttle — in this case, the Endeavour — docked with the International Space Station. Here, it is seen from the Russian Soyuz TMA-20 capsule, which itself is usually docked to the ISS (and which also explains all the Cyrillic in that there viewfinder image).
The Soyuz detached (what’s the proper term here, fellow space nerds?) from the station, backed away about 600 feet, waited while the ISS was gently steered into an optimum position for lighting from the Sun… et voila!
